What does an MTS Shift Supervisor do?
The tons of mail will not get to the person waiting for it unless YOU make sure it is sorted, addressed, encoded, bagged and tagged properly.
How do you do it?
1. Lead, monitor and manage direct reports to maintain quality, productivity and efficiency levels
2. Perform orientation and training as required
3. Review polices and procedures with employees and ensure compliance
4. Ensure assignments are completed quickly, safely and using procedures set up for the department and client
5. Establish an environment of teamwork, employee involvement/empowerment, fairness, and consistency
6. Ensure effective programs to train, cross-train, and develop employees for efficiency and promotional advancement
7. Ensure high morale, effective coaching, and counseling to encourage employee success and minimize turnover
8. Monitor work performance of leads and employees
9. Monitor volumes and adjust staffing as necessary
10. Apprise manager of any problems that occur
11. Produce all required daily, weekly, and monthly operational reporting at the defined time.
What skills and experience do you need in order to be successful in this position?
- Experience and knowledge of mail processes, warehouse/fulfillment business operations, maintenance, data processing, sorting and receiving, automation
- Minimum one year experience in supervising a 24 hour production operations within multiple shifts
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks
- Proficiency with computers and strong understanding of MS Excel
- Good oral and written communication skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and have repetitive movements in support of machines and transport of materials weighing up to 50 lbs. (additional weight may be required with assistance)
- Standing, walking or moving about, up to 100% of work shift
- Noise level generated from other distribution activity can be somewhat loud at times, but no damaging levels or protective equipment required
- Temperature in the distribution center can vary greatly from warm to cool
